A 35-year-old Wisconsin man wanted by federal authorities for kidnapping a 13-year-old girl in South Carolina was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in a Key Largo parking lot Tuesday.
He and the juvenile were in a Dodge Ram pickup truck at the Pink Plaza shopping center parking lot at approximately 3:24 a.m.
Berlick, of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, was wanted by federal authorities in the kidnapping.

The sheriff’s office said they’d received information that Berlick was possibly en route to the Keys and ran his license plate after he entered Key Largo.
The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified, and the teen was placed in protective custody and was receiving services until she could be brought back to South Carolina.
The FBI is investigating the incident.
