Wrong-Way Driver Plummets Off Of Selmon Expressway Ramp, Landing On Brorein And Franklin

TAMPA, FL. – A 30-year-old Tampa man has died after losing control of his car and crashing over the exit ramp barrier, falling to the street below.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 2014 Chevy Sonic, was traveling eastbound along the westbound lanes of the Selmon Expressway.

While attempting to exit the Expressway at the Tampa Street entrance ramp, the driver lost control causing the vehicle to collide with and travel over the concrete barrier wall.

The vehicle fell off of the ramp and landed at the intersection of Brorein Street and Franklin Street with the driver suffering fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

“It is unknown where and the reason why the vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction,” said FHP in a release.
