Zephyrhills Bicyclist Killed Riding On Wire Road Overnight

A 24-year-old Zephyrhills man had died after being struck by a car overnight on Wire Road.

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – A 24-year-old Zephyrhills man has died after being struck by a car overnight on Wire Road just after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Wire Road approaching Otis Allen Road, with two bicyclists ahead of the car.

Troopers say neither of the bikes had lights on them and the driver of the Mustang was unable to see the bikes ahead.

The driver, a 17-year-old Dade City girl, collided with the Zephyrhills rider.

Troopers say the man was transported to a local hospital but later died from injuries suffered in the crash.
