Zephyrhills Man Killed In Head-On Crash While Driving The Wrong-Way

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 56-year-old Zephyrhills man was killed in a head-on crash while driving north in the southbound lane.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Hyundai Tiburon, driven by a 56-year-old Zephyrhills man, was traveling northbound on SR-39 in the southbound lane. 

Troopers say a Dodge Ram towing a trailer, driven by a 30-year-old Babson Park man, was traveling southbound on SR-39.

Near Varn Road, the two vehicles approached each other, and despite the Babson Park man’s evasive maneuvers, the vehicles collided nearly head-on. 

Troopers say the Zephyrhills man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

The Babson Park man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to FHP.
