Zephyrhills Man Killed on I-75 After He Stopped for a Flat Tire

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old Zephyrhills man was killed Monday night on I-75, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the man was traveling southbound in a Ford Mustand on the I-75 exit ramp to US-301 when the vehicle suffered a flat tire. The man stopped the Ford Mustang along the east shoulder, exited and walked to the passenger side of the vehicle to inspect the tire.

A Ford F150, driven by a 27-year-old Brandon man, was traveling southbound on the ramp when he failed to stay in the lane, traveled to the shoulder, then collided with the passenger side of Mustang and the driver.

The man was transported to an area hospital, but died from injuries sustained during the crash.
