MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – A 3-year-old toddler was killed Saturday on the South Sunshine Skyway Bridge Pier.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling north on the South Sunshine Skyway Bridge Fishing Pier, located to the west of Interstate 275.
A 3-year-old boy was walking west, behind a parked vehicle, attempting to cross the northbound travel lane of the South Sunshine Skyway Bridge Fishing Pier.
The front right of pickup truck collided with the boy and the rear tire then also hit the boy, according to Troopers
FHP Troopers say the boy was pronounced deceased on scene.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
