Baby Alligator Decides To Try Out With Florida Swim Team

A young alligator decided to take a dip at a Florida school where the swim team was preparing for practice.

Deputies responded to a call at Montverde Academy, in Lake County, in reference to a 3-foot alligator that had decided to try out for the swim team, preventing the actual swim team from practicing.

One of the deputies was able to use a safety hook to bring him to the edge where another responding deputy reached down and grabbed the gator.

Deputies secured the gator’s mouth with electrical tape and temporarily detained the little guy so they could safely transport him to Lake Apopka, where the gator was released on its own recognizance.

No deputies or gators were hurt during the encounter, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
