2-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Shot In St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A 2-year-old child in St. Petersburg is fighting for their life after being shot in a home on Sunday.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 2-year-old boy in St. Petersburg has died after suffering a gun shot Sunday.

According to investigators, at 8:10 pm, officers were called to a scene on the 4644 15th Avenue South. Police a 2-year-old boy was shot in a home and then was being driven to a nearby hospital by a family member.

A family member tried to drive him to the hospital, but lost control on 34th St. S. at 15th Ave. S. , and crashed in the parking lot of a closed business.

After paramedics arrived, the child was then taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

The driver is being questioned by investigators to determine what happened to lead up to the child shot.

“The child did not survive his injuries, and he passed away at the hospital,” police said.

The boys name is not being released at this time.
