Brooksville Walmart Semi-Truck Fire Friday

BROOKSVILLE, Fla.- At 5:08 a.m. Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) responded to a commercial fire at 13300 Cortez Blvd.  HCFES arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire behind the store in the produce loading dock.  There were two full semi-trucks and two empty trailers on fire. According to the driver of the first semi-truck, he just pulled into the loading dock, went inside, and heard an explosion.  When he came outside the trailer of his semi-truck was on fire and rapidly spreading. Fire crews advanced multiple hose streams and an aerial master stream to extinguish the fire.

The fire was completely under control at 05:36 a.m. The fire caused the total loss of both semi-trucks and two exposed empty trailers.  The origin and cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Walmart Corporation.  The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted and consulted.

HCFES responded with 4 fire engines, 2 ALS medic units, 1 Ladder Truck, Fire Corps, and 2 Battalion Chiefs for a total of 21 personnel.
