Florida AG Moody Says Border Patrol Has Been Turned Into “Border Parole”

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said the Biden administration’s sieve-like border policies are putting Americans increasingly at risk.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said the Biden administration’s sieve-like border policies are putting Americans increasingly at risk.

In an interview with Newsmax, Moody argued that President Joe Biden’s weak border presence has allowed drug smugglers to ship enough deadly fentanyl into America “to kill the entire U.S. population 10 times over.”

“The cartels will send certain people across the border, knowing that the Border Patrol is no longer a Border Patrol,” Moody, a Republican, told Newsmax. “It’s now border parole. They just welcome everyone and release them into the interior.”

“The amount of fentanyl in this country is starting to cause mass deaths,” said Moody, pointing to the July 4 weekend in Gadsden County, Florida, where 19 people overdosed, killing 10 of them.

“We in law enforcement are speaking up,” Moody continued. “We’re pleading with this administration to jump in this game and pay attention. You’re losing Americans and President Biden, he hasn’t even said the word ‘fentanyl’ one time in one tweet since the beginning of this year.”

Newsmax host Shaun Kraisman asked Moody about a letter she sent Biden two weeks ago, in which she noted fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans 18 to 45.

In that letter, Moody also asked Biden to declare fentanyl a “weapon of mass destruction.”

Part of her reasoning was that overdoses killed more than 100,000 Americans last year, and three-quarters of them perished because of opioids, primarily fentanyl.

“In the nearly two years that your administration has been in office, you have done little to abate this American tragedy,” Moody wrote to Biden. “Indeed, many of your policies have exacerbated the death toll needlessly wasting America’s youth.”

Moody suggested to Kraisman that it was no surprise that the administration ignored her letter.

“As soon as you start using the word fentanyl, this administration puts its head in the sand because they have to admit their abysmal failure at the border,” Moody said.

“This is the biggest crisis in our country that our administration has not faced head on,” she added. “They refuse to tackle because they know they’ll have to start tackling the border.”

“The Border Patrol is trying its best to catch up,” said Moody. “I feel for the men and women on the border right now. They have no one in charge that wants to see to the security of this nation.”
