Florida Gov. DeSantis: If Elected, I Will “Destroy Leftism In This Country”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis predicted that if he is the Republican presidential nominee in 2024, he will not only defeat President Joe Biden but will also win a second term and proceed to “destroy leftism” in America.

DeSantis made the comment in an interview with Fox News that was posted Monday on Twitter by the account DeSantis War Room, the rapid media response unit for the governor.

DeSantis was asked why now is the time for him to run for president, as he announced last week.

“Everyone knows that if I’m the nominee, I will beat Biden, and I will serve two terms and I will be able to DESTROY leftism in this country and leave woke ideology on the dustbin of history,” he replied.

“At the end of the day, I’ve shown in Florida an ability to win huge swaths of voters that Republicans typically can’t win while also delivering the boldest agenda anywhere in the country,” DeSantis continued.

“I think there’s a reason why the legacy media is attacking me more than they’re attacking anybody else,” he added. “Because I think they realize that if I’m successful in winning the Republican nomination, we’re gonna bring it home in the general election.”

“I pledge to Republican voters that if you nominate me, I’ll be taking the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2025, on the west side of the Capitol — no excuses, no more excuses about why we can’t get it done, and I will get it done.”

DeSantis took some heat last week during his launch announcement on Twitter with CEO Elon Musk. Twitter’s servers crashed during the event, creating an unexpected hiccup and causing liberals and even former President Donald Trump to mock the governor.

But DeSantis bounced back, as his campaign said it raised more than $8 million within 24 hours of his entry into the race, a new record.
