An 18-year-old Florida man was arrested Monday for stealing $1,300 from a Big Pine Key grocery store, according to authorities.
Leandro Valverdo,18, was charged with grand theft.
According to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a supervisor at Winn-Dixie noticed discrepancies with the cashier drawer counts and notified the Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

Further investigation revealed Valverdo was skimming cash from the drawer whenever large purchases were made. This was confirmed by video evidence.
Valverdo confessed when questioned by the Sheriff’s Office, was arrested, and booked into the Monroe County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
