Florida Man Arrested Trying To Steal Ballistic Vest Worn By SEAL Team Six Member That Took Out Bin Laden

Just when you thought that Florida man has done it all. Nope. A man that worked at the Navy SEAL Museum was arrested for attempting to steal a vest worn by a SEAL Team Six member during the raid of Osama bin Laden’s compound.

30-year-old Kendall Rust was working as a contractor at the Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida when he decided to place the artifact inside of his toolbox.

An employee of the museum noticed Rust acting suspiciously and noticed the ballistic vest was missing from the area Rust was working in. She called the sheriff’s office.

The Operations Officer at the Museum questioned Rust about the missing vest, and Rust admitted putting the vest into his toolbox so that he could take a picture of it outside.

The Operations Officer told deputies that Rust began to cry.

When deputies arrived they questioned Rust about the incident and the man stuck with his story. He told investigators he placed the vest in his toolbox to take it outside for a picture.

Rust was arrested on a felony larceny charge and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

The vest was part of a uniform set that is valued at $100,000. The museum stated the vest alone is worth $50,000.

  1. No SEAL killed bin Laden. He died on Dec. 16, 2001 in the Tora Bora Mountains in Afghanistan of lung problems caused by kidney disease. Anyone who says they killed bin Laden is a liar. The Pakistan Observer reported his death about ten days after he died.
