A Florida man has been arrested after choosing a random house to charge his cell phone and subsequently being charged with drug trafficking.

On Wednesday at approximately 7:15 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on Melacano Avenue in Spring Hill regarding a Residential Burglary in progress.

The caller told the operator that she was preparing to let her dogs out the back door when she saw a man sitting on her back patio.

The caller did not know the man and had no idea what he was doing there.

Deputies were dispatched to the home.

An off-duty deputy, who happened to be in the area, was the first to arrive.

The deputy saw the man relaxing on the back patio, while charging his phone in an electrical outlet.  The deputy immediately detained him.

When other deputies arrived on the scene, the man, along with his backpack, was turned over to their custody.

The suspect identified himself as 34-year-old Anthony Stravino.  Stravino told deputies he thought he was at his girlfriend’s house, just waiting to be let in.  He then stated he didn’t know where he was and did not know his girlfriend’s address.

The homeowner again confirmed she did not know Stravino and had not given him permission to be on her property or to use the utilities.

Deputies located a small plastic baggie that contained a light-colored powdery substance, where Stravino had been sitting.  The substance weighed 0.6 grams and tested positive for heroin.

A search of Stravino’s person revealed another small plastic baggie containing a light-colored powdery substance.  The substance weighed 0.5 grams and also tested positive for heroin.

While searching Stravino’s backpack, deputies located a small black zippered case.

The zippered case contained a small plastic baggie holding a crystal-like substance.  The substance weighed 22.4 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine.

In addition to the crystal-like substance, the zippered case contained multiple small empty plastic baggies, a used syringe, and a scale.

Anthony Stravino, 34, was placed under arrest and charged with Burglary of Occupied Dwelling, Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Narcotics, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
