Florida Sen. Rock Scott has sided with a significant portion of the Muslim world. When it comes to Palestinian “refugees,” just say no.

The Republican senator announced Tuesday that he opposed efforts by Democrats to import alleged refugees from the fighting in Gaza into the U.S.

According to Scott’s office, more than 100 Democrats support the plan by calling on President Joe Biden to grant Temporary Protected Status to alleged refugees. But they also want Biden to approve Deferred Enforced Departure status for Palestinians already present in the U.S. That means they would not have to leave for a specified period of time.

“I am gravely concerned about the pressure building from the radical left for President Biden to allow thousands of Palestinians to come to America,” Scott said in a press release.

“This would continue the disturbing trend we have seen from Democrat presidents of allowing unvetted and potentially dangerous individuals from nations and states that hate America to pour into our country. It cannot be allowed to happen again.”

“The FBI has repeatedly warned of the serious threats America faces from terror cells that are growing here in the United States,” Scott continued. “Director [Christopher] Wray detailed the significance of these threats to me in a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing last year, and reiterated the danger we face during yesterday’s Senate Intelligence Committee hearing.”

“We cannot ignore these warnings and the massive threat of terrorism that President Biden has allowed to grow within the United States,” said Scott.

The GOP lawmaker cited a Wall Street Journal report that noted European nations are acting to stop terrorism tied to Gaza and the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, which killed more than 1,200 innocent Jews, including at least 32 Americans. The accused terrorists were posing as refugees in their host nations.

As one example, Scott’s office noted that Italian authorities busted three Palestinians suspected of ties to a terror organization that allegedly planned to launch multiple attacks against military and civilian targets across Europe.

“Given these reports and dire warnings from the FBI, I will do everything in my power as a United States Senator to block the Biden administration from bringing in refugees from Gaza, which have already been rejected from resettlement by Egypt and Jordan, and putting even more Americans at risk of terrorism on U.S. soil. Any resettlement must happen in the region, not the United States,” Scott said.

Scott has allies on the refugee question.

According to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar have all said they would not accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza.
