Florida Senate President Wilton Simpson has started the process that could lead to senators considering the fate of suspended Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren.

Florida State Attorney Suspended By DeSantis Allegedly Used Taxpayer Dollars For ‘Woke Justice’ Agenda

Andrew Warren, the former state attorney for Hillsborough County, allegedly used taxpayers’ funding to promote progressive activism, including making at least a half-dozen trips across the nation to learn more about woke justice, according to a new report.

Andrew Warren, the former state attorney for Hillsborough County, allegedly used taxpayers’ funding to promote progressive activism, including making at least a half-dozen trips across the nation to learn more about woke justice, according to a new report.

Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Warren last week, asserting neglect of duty.

DeSantis argued Warren, a Democrat, failed his professional obligation by publicly announcing he would not prosecute cases under Florida’s new laws governing abortion and trans procedures on children.

But Warren’s alleged unwillingness to enforce duly enacted laws could be explained by his association with a group called Fair and Just Prosecution, or FJP, which on its website says its mission is to promote “a justice system grounded in fairness, equity, compassion, and fiscal responsibility.”

The Florida Standard on Wednesday reported that Warren used taxpayer funding to travel the country between July 2017 and May 2022 for FJP events.

FJP boasts of its connections to a who’s who of George Soros-backed, left-wing prosecutors who today are seeing vast upticks in crime.

FJP’s affiliations include prosecutors such as District Attorney George Gascon of Los Angeles, who is a board member and recently avoided a recall effort for being overly soft on crime, Chicago DA Kim Foxx, who oversees one of America’s bloodiest cities, recently recalled San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin, and Philadelphia DA Larry Krassner.

FJP says on its website its purpose is to promote “justice reforms that recognize that prior ‘tough on crime’ and incarceration-driven practices have not always resulted in safer or healthier communities. New thinking has started to permeate criminal justice agencies and has prompted proactive and prevention-oriented strategies.”

One of its ideas is to end the death penalty. Another is not to charge people as murderers if they supply drugs to people who overdose. Still, another is greater use of “diversion” programs so criminals don’t actually have to go to prison for their crimes.

In a report on reforming policing posted on its website, FJP says DAs like Warren, Foxx, and Gascon are necessary to “combatting the racism interwoven throughout our nation’s justice system.”

As the report itself says, “The recent murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor are among many horrifying episodes of police brutality and excessive force that have long targeted and devastated Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color across the nation.”

“These incidents – and persistent problems with police misconduct – lay bare the unbroken link between slavery and modern racially-biased policing and elevate the urgent moral imperative for a reset of the justice system. Structural reform is necessary to promote a justice system that lives up to its name.”

The Florida Standard noted, “Warren and his staff made at least six trips across the country to attend events held by Fair and Just Prosecutions (sic), paid for by local taxpayers back in Florida.”

“Records show that Warren traveled to Seattle in July 2017, Boston in September 2017, New York in August 2018, Houston in December 2018, New York in September 2021, and Washington DC in May 2022.”

The outlet noted that Warren also served as chairman of a Florida Democratic Party task force promoting many FJP-style ideas. The group soon began “promoting activism over the rule of law.”

As The Free Press recently reported, Warren is fighting his suspension, which he called a “political stunt” and an “illegal overreach.” He has sued DeSantis to try to get his job back.

Warren is being represented by the firm of Perkins Coie, which is the same powerhouse liberal firm Hillary Clinton’s campaign turned to in 2016 in order to hire an operative who could help sell the Trump-Russia collusion hoax.
