Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Sunday renewed her call for a special House committee to investigate former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked panel that supposedly investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The Georgia Republican was responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Jake Lang, a self-described “January 6th Political Prisoner.”
Lang on Saturday reacted to comments by new House Speaker Mike Johnson, who told Fox News that he thinks some J6 defendants have been denied due process in their criminal cases linked to the riot.

“While you & the stagnant Republicans in Congress are busy ‘thinking’ about the clear & evident Due Process violations January 6 political prisoners are facing – I current (sic) sit in solitary confinement, in the basement of Washington DC Jail on day 1050 of my incarceration WITHOUT A TRIAL. Enough talk & interviews on FOX, we need ACTION,” Lang posted.
He added that Congress must “immediately without hesitation” appoint a special committee to probe the actions of the special panel created by Pelosi, which included left-leaning former Republican Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.
In response to Lang, whom she said she agreed with, Greene argued on X, “The Democrats and the DOJ/FBI are orchestrating a colossal cover-up of J6, and those responsible should face the same consequences they’re mercilessly imposing on J6 defendants.”
“The Republican-led House needs to launch a full-blown investigation into the original J6 committee! The American people demand answers and accountability for the mountain of lies, deceit, and ruined lives.”

“We should issue subpoenas for every single member of the Jan 6th committee, Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, FBI, DOJ, DC Police, Capitol Police, and all the J6 witnesses who lied. We need criminal referrals, and prosecutions must absolutely happen under a Trump DOJ. It’s time to expose the truth!!”
Greene essentially made that argument two weeks ago when Johnson announced that he would be releasing all 44,000 hours of security footage related to the J6 riot.
“Releasing the tapes is not enough!” Greene posted on X at the time.
“There needs to be investigations and ACCOUNTABILITY for ALL of the lies, deceit, and lives ruined. Every member of the Jan 6th committee, Nancy Pelosi, FBI, DOJ [Department of Justice], DC Police, Cap[itol] Police, Jan 6 witnesses who lied, all need to be subpoenaed.”
The House launched a probe of the original J6 committee in March under former Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
But many Republicans have grown more adamant about looking at the committee members themselves since Johnson released tens of thousands of hours of video.
