BRANDON, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue fought a 3-alarm apartment fire in Brandon on Sunday afternoon.

“911 calls began coming into our emergency communications center at 4:52 PM from multiple callers reporting a large fire through the roof of a two-story apartment on Red Maple Place in Brandon,” said HCFR.

Responding units found a working fire and struck a second alarm upon approaching the scene, seeing a large column of black smoke from a distance.

First arriving units were met with heavy fire through the roof of one building, with fire rapidly traveling along the attic of attached units.

A third alarm was issued, and crews set up aerial operations to battle the blaze from above.

The fire was declared under control just under one hour after the first unit’s arrival.

A total of 28 units were on the scene.

Firefighters conducted searches of several apartments, but no occupants were found.

There have been no reported injuries or transports of civilians or first responders.

The fire investigator is on the scene working on cause determination.
