Rep. Matt Gaetz said left-wing Democrats know they cannot be former President Donald Trump in a legitimate election, so they are using the power of the legal system to take him out.

Gaetz made the comment in an interview on Friday with Grant Stinchfield, host of the other Real America’s Voice network.

Gaetz appeared on the show to discuss a report released by the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday that detailed the politically driven prosecution of Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in charging Trump with 34 felony counts for alleged hush-money payments to stripper Stormy Daniels.

The committee’s 300-page report noted how Bragg, a Democrat, keeps his office “populated with partisans who openly bragged about their desire to get President Trump,” and how he used his agency’s “immense power in the persecution of a person, not a crime.”

That analysis hones in on a key figure in Bragg’s office, Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz, a former federal prosecutor who was in private practice when he volunteered to work on Trump’s case.

As the committee noted, Pomerantz, who championed typing to bag Trump while working as a federal prosecutor, wrote a book that goaded Bragg into pursuing an election-malfeasance case against Trump even after other federal prosecutors and the Federal Elections Commission declined to prosecute Trump.

“The whole goal was to get Trump,” Gaetz told Stinchfield.

“If we have to throw every presidential candidate in jail who was trying to shape the news coverage of their campaign, we’d probably need a lot more jail cells.”

“It’s a raw act of partisan politics by Alvin Bragg,” he added.

Gaetz noted that Pomerantz, who wrote a book on Trump’s supposed crimes and who made the rounds on the news show to promote it, was oddly silent when interviewed by House Republicans.

According to Gaetz, Pomerantz pleaded the Fifth Amendment multiple times to avoid answering questions about the Trump case, including whether had destroyed evidence or violated Trump’s rights.

“They know they can’t beat Trump in the ballot box,” said Gaetz, “so now they’re trying to beat him in the witness box.”

“You don’t go and draft in private lawyers to come and go after politicians you don’t like. That’s the kind of thing you see in Third World countries and now in Manhattan.”

Regarding the jury, Gaetz, a Fort Walton Beach Republican, said that Manhattan is so infested with anti-Trump Democrats that the jury could convict Trump of “abducting the [Charles] Lindbergh baby, killing Jimmy Hoffa, and being the shooter on the grassy knoll all at once,” said Gaetz.
