HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Every year, the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office conducts voter registration campaigns in high schools and hosts an art contest to encourage civic engagement among students.

“Florida law requires us to reach out to students, and it’s important because these high school students are not just our future – they’re our present. Many of them will be eligible to vote in their first election this year,” said Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer.

Supervisor Latimer has held a student art contest since 2014. This year, he challenged high school students to design a new “I Voted” sticker. The winning sticker will be handed out to voters during Early Voting in the 2024 Primary and General Elections.

The top three student artists were recognized at the Hillsborough County School Board meeting yesterday and received prizes from the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Busch Gardens.

  • 1st Place: Aurora Gomez Garcia, King High School
  • 2nd Place: Aryanna Joyette, Tampa Bay Technical High School
  • 3rd Place: Scout Pytlak, Blake High School

In addition, Durant, King, Patel, Newsome, Plant City and Sumner High Schools were named VoteHillsborough Champions for having the most successful voter registration drives this year.
