Palat’s second goal marked the 400th point of his career to become the seventh player to record at least as many points with the Lightning. The 30-year-old, a seventh-round selection, made his NHL debut with the club in 2012-13.

How Alex Killorn, Yanni Gourde, Other Former Lightning Players Are Faring

Between not being able to re-sign key players due to salary cap constraints and seeing them, and others, sign elsewhere as free agents, plus those who have been traded, the Lightning have said goodbye to a good number of players in recent years.

Here is an alphabetical look at how those players have fared since leaving the Bolts.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Kraken

In 2020-21, his first of two seasons, PED equaled his career high with nine goals and was a plus-24.

He signed with Seattle as free agent this summer and has one goal and is a minus-2 in 13 games.

Zach Bogosian, Wild

Bogosian, who had two stints and played 106 regular season and 47 postseason games with the Lightning, joined Maroon in Minnesota after he was dealt for a 2025 seventh-round selection November 9.

Blake Coleman, Flames

Coleman played nearly as many playoff (48) as regular season (64) games with Tampa Bay. He scored the insurance goal in the Game 6 Cup-clincher against Dallas in 2020 and scored the game-winner in Game 2 of the Cup final versus Montreal the following year. Coleman signed with Calgary in summer 2021 and had a career-high 38 points last season. He is 4-2-6 in 15 games this season.

Ross Colton, Avalanche

Colton scored the lone goal in Tampa Bay’s Cup-clinching Game 5 against Montreal in 2021. He scored 22 goals the next season and, overall, had 47 goals in 190 games with Tampa Bay. Dealt to the Avs in June for a second-round pick in this year’s draft, Colton is 4-1-5 in 14 games this season.

Barclay Goodrow, Rangers

Like Coleman, Goodrow played nearly as many playoff (43) as regular season (63) games with the Bolts. He was plus-9 in the postseason with Tampa Bay. Goodrow was traded to the Rangers for a seventh-round pick in July 2021 draft and had a career-best 13 goals in 2021-22. He has one assist in 13 games this season.

Yanni Gourde, Kraken

Gourde played four-plus seasons with the Bolts and established career bests of 25-39-64 in 2018-19. Selected in the expansion draft by Seattle, he scored 21 goals in the Kraken’s maiden season of 2021-22 and was a plus-23 last season. He is 2-5-7 in 16 games this season.

Tyler Johnson, Blackhawks

Johnson spent nine-plus seasons and scored 161 goals with Tampa Bay before being sent to Chicago in July 2021. He also scored 32 goals in the playoffs, 13 during the Lightning’s run to the Cup final in 2015. Injuries have limited Johnson during his time in the Windy City, though he is healthy this season and is 4-2-6 in 13 games.

Mathieu Joseph, Senators

Joseph spent his first three-plus seasons (221 games) with the Lightning before being dealt to Ottawa at the 2022 trade deadline. His 12 points (4 goals) in 13 games with the Sens this season are only seven removed from his career high of 19 with Tampa Bay in 2020-21. Joseph is also a plus-7.

Alex Killorn, Anaheim

Killer signed with the Ducks this summer after playing 805 games and recording 466 points with Tampa Bay. He broke a finger during the preseason and did not return until earlier this month. He has two assists in his first five games.

Pat Maroon, Wild

Maroon is 2-7-9 in 15 games with Minnesota after going 5-9-14 in 80 games with the Lightning last season. The popular Maroon, who played four seasons with Tampa Bay, was traded to the Wild in July for a 2024 seventh-round pick.

Ryan McDonagh, Predators

Two stats stand out during McDonagh’s four-plus seasons with the Bolts: plus-18 during the 2021 playoffs and 69 blocked shots in the 2022 playoffs. He was traded to Nashville in July 2022 for Phillippe Myers and Grant Mismash. McDonagh was a plus-12 with the Preds last season and has blocked 25 shots in 10 games this season.

Ondrej Palat, Devils

Palat signed with the Devils in July 2022 after nine-plus seasons (628 games) with the Lightning. It was a tenure highlighted by scoring 12 game-winning goals in the playoffs. Injuries limited Palat to 49 games (23 points) with New Jersey last season. He has five assists in 14 games this season.

Corey Perry, Blackhawks

Perry was traded in June for a 2024 seventh-round pick and returned to Amalie Arena on November 9 when he scored a goal in Chicago’s 5-3 win. Perry, who scored 31of his 420 career goals in two seasons with the Bolts, is 3-5-8 in 13 games with the Blackhawks.

Jan Rutta, Sharks

After playing 158 games in four seasons with the Lightning, Rutta signed as a free agent with the Penguins in July 2022. He was traded to San Jose this summer and, like most Sharks this season, is struggling. He is minus-11 in 16 games.

Luke Schenn, Predators

Schenn played only 82 games, including playoffs, in two seasons with the Bolts, but has two Cup rings. The defenseman was a plus-4 in 19 playoff games with the Lightning. He was signed by Vancouver in July 2021 and has since played with the Canucks, Maple Leafs and Preds.
