Looted an iPhone? You Are Being Tracked

During the looting and unrest that broke off from peaceful protests, Apple stores were a target.

But, there a catch.

iPhones contain tracking devices and the stolen merchandise will lead law enforcement to the location of those devices. If acted upon quickly enough. Most of these devices will be parted out and sold in pieces, as opposed to being returned to the stores or confiscated by police, before they can be located.

The message that greets a looter powering up their new device: “This device has been disabled and is being tracked,” it says. “Local authorities will be alerted.”
