New York Man Killed By DUI Driver While Riding Bicycle In Pinellas Park

A 64-year-old Brewster, New York man was killed in a crash that happened around 2:39 am on Sunday.

PINELLA PARK, Fla. – A 64-year-old Brewster, New York man was killed in a crash that happened around 2:39 am on Sunday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 2022 Toyota Tacoma, was traveling eastbound on 62nd Avenue North, west of 39th Street North. 

Troopers say the New York was riding a bicycle eastbound, ahead of the pickup truck. 

Investigators say the pickup truck “overtook” and collided with the bicyclist who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

Following the crash, troopers say the pickup truck continued a short distance until becoming disabled from the collision. 

The driver, Nicholas Carusotti, 29, then ran on foot until located by Pinellas Park Police. 

Police determined that was impaired and Carusotti was arrested by FHP Troopers for Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and DUI Manslaughter.
