Northwestern University Trump Supporter

Northwestern University Wants Trump Supporter Booted Off Presidential Search Committee Because, Well, Trump

It doesn’t get more snow-flakey than this.

The student government at Northwestern University has demanded that the chairman of a committee established to find a new president for the school be removed because he is a supporter of former President Donald Trump.

It turns out, according to conservative website The College Fix, that J. Landis Martin is the only open Trump backer on the 36-member search committee.

Martin, the website noted, donated $30,000 to Trump’s 2016 campaign.

The student government panel voted 17-1 to recommend that the Board of Trustees remove him.

“The student government said that because its own survey found that most students are liberal on campus and disapprove of Trump, Martin’s place on the committee harms students,” the Fix reported.

The results of that survey are unknown, however, because its authors have blocked access to it.

Of course, even though most students are liberal doesn’t mean they all are. But in the thinking of tolerant, accepting liberals, conservatives are not allowed a voice.

Additionally, it seems defining the “harm” Martin presents to students is difficult.

The student who introduced the bill calling for Martin’s removal told the college newspaper that Martin “donated to Donald Trump who has demonstrated significant sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, a whole list of things that has negatively impacted students.” “Which,” the student added, “is why it is important to remove him.”

No need to show any demonstrable harm or any direct action on his part. Just take the liberals’ word for it.

Northwestern’s school newspaper reported that the vote is not binding on the trustees, so it’s very likely Martin will not be recused or removed.

Regarding the controversy, Negar Jadidi, a writer for conservative Young America’s Foundation, summed up the situation well: “It is apparent that leftist students in the ASG (student government) cannot stand to hear opposing world-views and will do anything in their power to put in jeopardy the career and name of anyone with whom they disagree. The administration at Northwestern should not cave to the woke mob.”
