Pasco County Sheriff Warns of Telephone Kidnapping Scam

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County Sheriff is warning of a telephone scam, involving family members being kidnapped, that has been reported.

A caller, with a country code of +52, which is Mexico, calls the target victim and states that a family member has been kidnapped, and will be killed unless cash is sent.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff, the call can seem realistic as the scammer has family members’ names and addresses.

These items are easily found online, however. The Sheriff’s office said that if you get one of these calls, Do not engage and do not panic.
