PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Pinellas County Air Quality section of Public Works is issuing an Air Pollution Advisory due to elevated levels of the pollutant ozone. This advisory is effective through Wednesday, April 17.

The area is experiencing high-moderate levels of ozone, with Air Quality Index (AQI) values from 51-100, with a potential of increased levels reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category with AQI values from 101-150, according to current data.

People sensitive to ozone or with lung disease such as asthma, older adults, children and teenagers, and people who are active outdoors should consider reducing prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.

This is due in part to the presence of a stable air mass, light winds, sunny skies, moderate temperatures, dry air conditions, and a high-pressure system affecting the region.

If the forecast changes, this advisory may be lifted. If you have questions or need further information, please call the Public Works, Pinellas County Air Quality Section at (727) 464-4422.
