Despite criticism that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is slumping, a new poll indicates that’s not the case.
On Tuesday, according to multiple media reports, Mason Dixon Polling released a new survey, taken of Florida voters last week, that shows DeSantis with a 59% approval rating. That’s the same as the percentage of the vote he racked up in November’s election, when he crushed Democrat Charlie Crist.
On the other hand, just 39% disapprove of DeSantis’ performance.

That’s actually up from September, the last time Mason Dixon asked the question. DeSantis at that time polled at 55%.
The survey also showed DeSantis leading former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical matchup for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
DeSantis led Trump 44-39, according to Mason Dixon.
Trump today is expected to answer charges in New York that he illegally paid stripper Stormy Daniels $130,000 in “hush money” in 2016, during his first presidential campaign, to buy her silence about an alleged affair.
Trump denies the affair and any wrongdoing in the case. He is expected to speak to the nation tonight about it.

DeSantis has not formally announced his bid for the GOP nomination in 2024. Under Florida law, he must resign from office if he does that. But Republican lawmakers in Tallahassee are working to change that law during the current session.
DeSantis would overwhelm President Joe Biden in Florida, the Mason Dixon poll showed.
The pollster found Biden has a 60% disapproval rating in the Sunshine State.
