Poll Shows Florida Conservatives Lost Faith In Justice System

The Biden administration’s unequal enforcement of the law is killing faith in the legal system among Florida conservatives.

The Republican Party of Florida posed a one-question poll earlier this week, according to the Florida Standard.

“How much confidence do you have in the justice system to be fair and equal to all?” the party asked.

The Standard reported that just 9.4% said they had a “great deal” of confidence in the legal system. By comparison, 73% said they had no confidence at all.

“People are very upset and concerned about the unequal justice that’s being carried out when it comes to conservatives versus liberals,” Florida GOP Chairman Christian Ziegler told The Florida Standard.

Consider what transpired in roughly a week as the survey was taken:

  • Biden’s Justice Department indicted former President Donald Trump for mishandling classified documents, while in 2016, Democrat Hillary Clinton skated away from similar charges.
  • Special Counsel John Durham testified before Congress that former FBI Director James Comey knew the 2016 accusations of Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia were phony claims produced by Hillary’s campaign, yet failed to tell front-line agents, who in turn failed to vet the intelligence themselves.
  • The DOJ cut a deal with Hunter Biden to get a plea on misdemeanor gun and tax evasion charges, which would have landed anyone else several years behind bars.

But on Thursday, the Justice Department took another hit, further sinking its credibility.

According to the Media Research Center, a veteran IRS agent turned whistleblower told the House Ways and Means Committee that senior DOJ officials told the IRS to stop investigating Hunter for influence-peddling because the 2020 election was approaching.

The whistleblower, Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley, made the comments in May. A transcript of his interview was released Thursday.

Shapley said the DOJ officials made the comments in September 2020, just a few weeks before the New York Post broke its report of Hunter’s laptop materials, including claims of how he made bank off his family’s name through multimillion-dollar payments from overseas interests, including communist China.

In one instance, Shapley recalled that the IRS got wind that Hunter had told Henry Zhao, a connection in China, that he was “sitting here with my father” wondering why Zhao had not lived up to his side of an undisclosed bargain.

Shapley said that should have sufficed for a search warrant of Biden’s home. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf agreed, but then killed the plan because of the “optics.”

“There was more than enough probable cause for the physical search warrant there, but the question was whether the juice was worth the squeeze,” Shapley told investigators.

“She continued that optics were a driving factor in the decision on whether to execute a search warrant. She said a lot of evidence in our investigation would be found in the guest house of former Vice President Biden, but said there is no way we will get that approved.”

Shapley also told investigators that Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue “issued a cease and desist of all overt investigative activities [into Hunter Biden] due to the coming election.”
