Rep. Matt Gaetz said recently that he believes U.S. Air Force officials worked with Democratic operatives to try to sabotage Republicans in the 2022 elections.

On his “Firebrand” podcast on Friday, Gaetz highlighted that he grilled the head of the Air Force’s personnel division, Lt. Gen. Caroline Miller, about why the service gave sensitive information about 11 GOP candidates to Democrats.

Miller claimed it was an “error” that the personal data was released.

When Gaetz asked if anyone had been fired for wrongfully releasing the Republicans’ information, Miller repeated three times that the Air Force had taken the ‘appropriate action.”

She declined to specify what that was, and said she didn’t know if anyone had been fired.

“You deem it appropriate,” Gaetz said, “but what if we don’t? Because we have civilian control of the military and we may have to change our laws to hold people accountable.”

Gaetz then called for the House Armed Services Committee to investigate what the Air Force did exactly, and not accept Miller’s reply as an “article of faith” that the problem and the leakers were dealt with.

The Fort Walton Beach Republican then interviewed GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, an Air Force vet whose records were among the 11 provided to Democrats. She said her records wound up in the hands of a New York Times reporter.

“I think it was an absolutely inside hack job by the Air Force,” Luna said. “If they’re not held accountable … they’re going to do it again.”

Luna said unless the Air Force gets tougher on leakers, she is filing a bill that would “zero out” Miller’s salary.

Gaetz added that he believes it was an “operation” to deter Republican veterans from running for office.
