Believe all women.
That was the mantra when women claimed sexual abuse at the hands of powerful men, especially conservatives like former President Donald Trump or Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
But one woman liberals have refused to believe is Tara Reade, who claims she was sexually assaulted by then-Sen. Joe Biden in the early 1990s.
Now, Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia want to give Reade a platform and allow Reade to tell the story of her encounter with Biden to House Republicans.

“At the invitation of Rep. MTG and I, and with the blessing of [House Oversight Committee] Chairman [James] Comer, Tara Reade will be returning to Congress to give a transcribed interview regarding her allegations that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her,” Gaetz tweeted earlier this week.
The invitation came after Reade took to Twitter to ask about her alleged assault by Biden as news churned of former President Donald Trump’s possible indictment for supposedly paying hush money to stripped Stormy Daniels in 2016.
“So I am not a former porn star, nor did I receive ‘hush money,’” Reade tweeted on Sunday.
“I was a Senate staffer for Joe Biden when he sexually assaulted me in 1993. To date no investigation, only media attacks and trolls aimed at me. I ask again to @mtgreenee and @mattgaetz When will Joe Biden be investigated? Thanks.”

“Tara,” Greene responded on Monday, “Thank you for bravely speaking out about such a horrible sexual assault you endured by your boss, then Senator Joe Biden, as a young staffer. It’s time to take a stand against the two-tiered injustice system. @RepMattGaetz and I would like to invite you to come to Washington to speak with us. We will be in touch very soon.”
On Wednesday, Gaetz addressed Reade’s tweet on his podcast, “Firebrand.”
The Fort Walton Beach Republican noted that Reade’s story seemed to be corroborated by her mother, who in August 1993 called in anonymously to Larry King’s CNN show and raised the topic of a young woman being sexually assaulted by a powerful man.
Reade raised the assault in 2020, asserting that Biden in 1993, when she worked for him as a Senate aide, pinned her to a wall and stuck his hand under her skirt, penetrating her with his finger.

On his podcast, Gaetz said Comer authorized him and Greene to bring Reade in and “get the facts” of “this violent sexual assault.”
“Isn’t that a good thing: to actually look at the facts, evaluate the evidence, work to corroborate claims that are made, and ultimately attempt to achieve a just result?” said Gaetz.
