Ridge Manor Man Dies After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver While Riding Bike

RIDGE MANOR, Fla. – A 44-year-old Ridge Manor man has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle around 6:45 am on Monday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle believed to be a 2007-2010 model Ford Edge, was traveling southbound on US-301. 

South of Running Pon Lane, a bicyclist with no lights or helmet and dark clothes was traveling southbound on US-301.

Troopers say the vehicle overtook and collided with the bicyclist, who was thrown to the shoulder of the roadway. 

The vehicle continued to drag the bicycle down the highway for 350 feet before it dislodged. 

The driver then left the scene of the crash without rendering aid. 

The bicyclist, a 44-year-old Ridge Manor man, was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
