Sen. Scott Sees Only One Reason Two Allow Three Dictators Into The US: To Arrest Them

Last week U.S. Sen. Rick Scott urged President Joe Biden to keep three prominent Latin American dictators out of the country.

Last week U.S. Sen. Rick Scott urged President Joe Biden to keep three prominent Latin American dictators out of the country.

The Florida Republican issued the request ahead of the United Nations General Assembly meeting next month. He said Biden should reject temporary visas for Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, Cuba’s Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega.

“The U.S. must send a clear message of zero tolerance for these dictators’ oppression and human rights abuses,” Scott wrote.

“Allowing Díaz-Canel, Ortega, or Maduro—or their representatives—into the United States would afford them a legitimacy they have neither earned nor deserve.”

“I implore you to stand up for freedom and democracy in Latin America and do the right thing to protect the security interests of the United States by denying entry to these three thugs and their cronies.”

Scott reiterated that position on Monday, telling Breitbart News he could see one legitimate reason to let the trio of leftist thugs into the country: To arrest them.

“Granting U.S. visas to Maduro, Diaz-Canel, Ortega, or any of his (sic) representatives, would be a serious mistake and another tremendous failure of this administration in protecting the national security of the United States and to our fight for freedom and democracy in Latin America,” Scott told Breitbart News.

“The United States should be the champion for freedom, but over and over again, when Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua most need the U.S. support, Biden chooses appeasement over the freedom, security, and stability of our hemisphere.”

“The only reasonable justification to allow these dictators or ANY of their representatives to enter the United States is to arrest them and their thugs once they are here,” the GOP senator added.

As Breitbart reported, “The three dictators Scott identified have been accused of myriad human rights atrocities including religious repression, the torturing of citizens, the taking of prisoners of conscience, and using state violence to silence and kill dissidents.”
