TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. – The clock is ticking down, and in a few short months, it will be time for Treasure Island’s signature sand sculpting event – Sanding Ovations.

“Each November, Treasure Island Beach becomes a wonderland of sand sculptures and buzzes with various activities as the city celebrates one of the assets that make our community so great – the beach,” said the City of Treasure Island.

This year’s Sanding Ovations will be Nov. 16-19, with an encore weekend Nov. 25-26. The theme, “It’s About Time” will pay homage to everything representing “time.” Songs with “time” in them, popular slogans using “time,” world attractions representing “time,” and more.

Sanding Ovations will come to life with the talents of 13 world-class sculptors led by Treasure Island’s own Meredith and Dan Doubleday of Sanding Ovations professional sand sculptors. Names and bios of sand sculptors will be released at a later date.

Visitors will enjoy a beach food court, beer garden and arts and crafts marketplace. Kites and night fly’s will be provided by Windworks of Maderia Beach, and fireworks will light up the night sky on Saturday, Nov. 16. Local, regional, and national bands will be making waves each weekend during the event.

Sanding Ovations presents “It’s About Time,” a Sand Sculpting Exhibition, and Competition will be free and open to the public. Plan a visit to Treasure Island Beach to see what happens when master sculptors use their imaginations and turn piles of sand and buckets of water into “outSANDing” works of art.
