Just one minute after the polls closed, the Associated Press, which keeps a close eye on these things, called the race. It should come as no surprise given that he leads Nikki Haley by thirty points, according to the most recent opinion polls of Republican voters in the state.

After securing victories in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, he now extends his winning run in the early-voting states to include South Carolina.

Trump will pick up 29 as-large delegates from the state on Saturday.

The remaining 21 delegates will be given out in accordance with the results of the congressional districts, with three delegates going to the winners in each of the seven districts in the state.

Nikki Haley has won 17 delegates, and Trump has won 92 so far in the primary elections.

1,215 delegates are needed in order to secure the Republican nomination.
