SUMTER COUNTY, FL. – A 31-year-old Spring Hill man was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving collided with the rear of another tractor-trailer on Monday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, both trucks were traveling southbound on I-75 in the outside lane near Milepost 321.
Troopers say a tractor-trailer driven by a 69-year-old Dade City Man, slowed for other slowing traffic. The Spring Hill Man failed to slow and collided with the rear of the first tractor-trailer.
FHP says that after the impact, both trucks traveled to the median and overturned, blocking portions of north and southbound I-75.
Following the crash, the Spring Hill man’s tractor-trailer caught fire and the man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
