After massive flooding in the region, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley.

Mayor Eric Adams issued a separate state of emergency for New York City.

Flash flood warnings are effect for parts of Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and New Jersey for flash flooding that was already occurring.

By 12:45 p.m., most areas around New York City had already exceeded the 5-inch mark, with the highest total of 6.78 inches coming from southern Brooklyn.

Central Park was already up to 5.46 inches, with New York’s JFK and La Guardia airports up to 5.97 inches and 4.37 inches, respectively.
