66-Year-Old Brandon Man Killed in Overnight Crash On I-75

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – A 66-year-old Brandon man was killed in a crash on I-75 that happened around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a car was traveling southbound on the exit ramp from I-75 to SR-574 (Martin Luther King Jr Blvd) as a pickup truck was traveling southbound on I-75 in the outside lane.

Realizing she was at the wrong exit, the driver, a 59-year-old Largo woman, steered to the left and crashed into the pickup truck.

Troopers say the car rotated to the roadway shoulder and struck a highway sign support, then continued until colliding with a tree.

Investigators say the pickup truck came to a controlled stop also on the west shoulder, and the driver, a 26-year-old man from Granbury, was uninjured.

The Brandon man, a passenger in the car, was transported to an area hospital but died from injuries suffered during the crash.
