Early Morning Tractor-Trailer Crash in Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – According to Florida Highway Patrol, a UPS tractor-double-trailer combination, was traveling southbound on I-75, north of SR-50. The driver, a 56-year-old man from Jacksonville, lost
control of the vehicle due to severe cross winds originating from Tropical Storm Eta.

The tractor-trailer was redirected to the median and collided with the guardrail face. Upon impact, the second trailer overturned as the tractor and the first trailer jackknifed before coming to final rest. The incident closed southbound I-75, all but one lane, until 4:48.

The driver was reported to have minor injuries and no other vehicles were involved.
