Moderate South Carolina GOP Rep Says Biden Impeachment “Not Going Anywhere”

If you wonder why conservatives gravitate to Donald Trump, who continues to bash Democrats no matter how many indictments pile up, and grow easily frustrated by Beltway Republicans, look no further than Rep. Nancy Mace.

If you wonder why conservatives gravitate to Donald Trump, who continues to bash Democrats no matter how many indictments pile up, and grow easily frustrated by Beltway Republicans, look no further than Rep. Nancy Mace.

During an appearance on Fox News on Sunday, the moderate South Carolina Republican played down the rising sentiment on the right for impeaching President Joe Biden, and said lawmakers should instead concentrate on getting spending and the national debt under control.

As recounted by the website Trending Politics, Mace called the impeachment effort being driven by Kentucky GOP Rep. James Comer “window dressing” to what the party should really focus on.

As the Tampa Free Press reported last week, Comer predicted that the vote to launch an impeachment inquiry into Biden’s influence-peddling schemes with his son Hunter would occur in mid-September. He also said he believes it would pass.

But that seems doubtful as more Republicans, such as Mace, speak out against it. Trending Politics noted that Colorado Rep. Ken Buck also has said impeachment is a no-go because it lacks evidence and because it is a distraction from forcing Congress to make spending cuts.

Mace told Fox News that the impeachment drive was “not going to go anywhere.”

“We need real spending cuts. We need real measures. I mean, and when we look at the potential for (a) government shutdown in the next couple of weeks — it’ll happen before October, if it happens at all — that is a real risk right now. But a lot of folks on the right are going to want to blame Biden and Democrats and the left,” Mace told Fox News.

“Both sides of the aisle should sit down at the table and figure that out together, because both Republicans and Democrats have created this mess,” she continued.

“And so I’m looking for serious legislation on both things, both whether it’s an investigation into Biden or spending cuts to prevent a government shutdown.”

“Both things need to happen when you show the American people Congress can walk and chew gum at the same time. We will see what happens,” Mace added.

Yet Mace sounded like her mind was made up on the fecklessness of the impeachment inquiry.

On X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Mace added, “Impeachment will never get 60 votes in a Democratic Senate regardless of how much evidence we present. We need to release all our evidence to the American people so they can decide if this guy — who sold out his country for millions of dollars — should be president.”

Mace, despite being in Congress at the time, apparently forgot that Democrats impeached Trump not just once, but twice, and all based on weak to no evidence — and did so knowing it was going to die in the Senate because Trump had the votes to stay in office.

And since then, Democrats have kept reminding the public that he was impeached for trying to undermine the country, and they have not stopped talking about prohibiting him and any Republicans who supported him from event holding office again.
