St. Petersburg police are investigating a hit-and-run traffic crash involving a 10-year-old boy riding a bicycle in the 1700 block of 52nd Avenue North.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg police are investigating a hit-and-run traffic crash involving a 10-year-old boy riding a bicycle in the 1700 block of 52nd Avenue North.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a vehicle traveling eastbound on 52nd Avenue North hit the child on the bike near the intersection of 52nd Avenue North and 17th Street North.

The vehicle stopped momentarily and then sped away, police say.

The vehicle is described as possibly a white Chevy Cruze.

The boy, who attends nearby Sexton Elementary School, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
