The Biden administration and Democrats in Congress have shown once again that they are willing to steamroll American citizens to push through their radical agenda.
This time, it would be on America’s community college campuses.
President Joe Biden’s massive $3.5 trillion expansion of the social welfare state includes a provision that would provide two years’ worth of “free” community college.
That would include covering tuition for illegal immigrants – something that several states ban wholly or in part.
The bill proposes to make $111 billion in grants available to states between 2023 and 2028 to cover the cost of a two-year, tuition-free experience at community colleges.
But one of the conditions in the 2,465-page measure is that illegal immigrants must qualify for funding.
“No individual shall be determined to be ineligible … on the basis of citizenship, alienage, or immigration status,” the bill states.
Liberals are fine with this.
Miriam Feldblum, the executive director of the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, a group of more than 500 higher education leaders, explained to a Kansas news outlet why this is a “biug deal.”
“The reason this is a big deal,” Feldblum told the Kansas Reflector, “is that, up until now, undocumented students have not had access to federal financial aid. They have not been included in federal financial aid or loan programs. They’ve not been included in Pell Grants.”
“But now there’s a new program being considered for free community college tuition, and the administration is recognizing from the very start of this program that there should not be arbitrary barriers set up against undocumented students,” she added.
Except, perhaps, one: they’re not American citizens who have violated the law.
That was a point GOP Sen. Tom Cotton made to Fox News recently.
“Illegal immigrants skipped the line and broke our laws—they should not be rewarded with free tuition,” Cotton said.
But Democrats want to use your money to pay for them to go to college. That’s not fair, and it will only incentivize more illegal immigration.”
