Opinion: Pardon Me? My Republican Opponents Said What?

Some say the Republican party is going down the drain. I argue it’s not the drain, it’s the toilet.
Opinion By GOP Presidential Candidate Steve Laffey

Some say the Republican party is going down the drain. I argue it’s not the drain, it’s the toilet.

You’ve seen the picture. You’ve seen the memes about the picture. You’ve seen the parodies of the picture. But I’m here to tell you, it’s not a laughing matter.

While Donald Trump may call it the “Greatest Witch Hunt of all time,” arguing he had “nothing to hide,” the contents of those documents put our national security in question. These were not documents taken accidentally. They were stacked within Mar-a-Lago, in a bedroom, a ballroom, and yes, a bathroom.

Donald Trump loves a little bathroom talk. While President Trump was in office, staff in the White House residence periodically discovered wads of printed paper clogging a toilet — and believed the president had flushed pieces of paper, Maggie Haberman wrote in her 2022 book. In a bizarre tweet, the then-President even claimed Americans are flushing their toilets “10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once.”

Mr. Trump it seems like your fascination with toilets may have led federal investigators to those stolen documents.

Now, instead of saying, “Pardon me, while I use the restroom,” the former President is looking at his army of mini-Trump’s on the campaign trail with a knowing smile, reminding them to “Pardon me!”

And of course, the sycophants are falling in line.

Mike Pence refused to say what he’d do for his former boss, instead calling on the Attorney General to explain himself. Sorry, Mike, the proof is in the pictures. No explanations needed.

The Governor of Florida should be called Ron DoubleSpeak! Out of one side of his mouth, he draws comparisons to Hillary Clinton, refusing to take a stance on the former President. Out of the other side, this Navy Lieutenant says if this happened on one of his boats, the suspect would be Court Marshalled and taken into custody.

Nikki Haley called the indictment “prosecutorial overreach” in a statement – refusing to take a true stance against her former boss. Nikki says she wants to move “beyond the endless drama and distractions.” But Nikki, we haven’t even seen the arraignment yet.

Vivek Ramaswamy has vowed to pardon Trump on his first day in office if elected. Is that really going to be your first act as President of the United States, to pardon a criminal? Mr. Ramaswamy needs to get his head checked and his priorities realigned.

Where is wrecking ball Republican Chris Christie? I thought his campaign was a kamikaze mission to take Trump down? He might think the indictment is “damning,” but I argue this one-word response speaks volumes.

Republican candidates are terrified to alienate Donald Trump’s supporters. I am not. Enough is enough. This has gone on for far too long. It’s time for President Trump to retire to Mar-a-Largo and spend his days planning his criminal defense. It will be hard to run the country from a jail cell. Federal prosecutors have a prosecution rate above 95%. Donald Trump faces 37 felony charges. What more do people need to hear?

Pardon me, Mr. Trump. It’s time to call it a campaign and let the adults handle the real issues facing America. And for the record, I believe you belong in jail and if elected President, a possible pardon will never reach my desk. Secret documents in a mansion are a very first-class problem. It’s time to end this bad reality TV show and rebuild the middle class that has been destroyed over the last eight years.
