Florida Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested In Alabama

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – The wanted subject in Sunday’s Gibsonton shooting was placed into custody by the Hale County Sheriff’s Office, located in Greensboro, Alabama.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a suspect in a Gibsonton shooting during the early morning hours of May 9, 2021. 

At 3:39 a.m. Sunday, HCSO’s Communications Bureau received a 911 about a shooting that occurred on the 10000 block of Lula Street in Gibsonton.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male lying in the middle of the road, who had suffered upper body trauma. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

According to witnesses, who were interviewed at the scene, a physical altercation took place between two men prior to the shooting.

Witnesses say they saw the suspect, 29-year-old Angel Hernandez-Tellez, retrieve a firearm and shoot a single shot at the victim. Witnesses told authorities the suspect then fled southbound on Lula Street in a black Dodge Ram truck. The victim was not involved in the original altercation. 

On Monday, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, “Time is of the essence, and I’m pleading with anyone who has seen or heard from this suspect to please contact us immediately. He is facing a charge of Second Degree Murder for his senseless actions. We do believe this was an isolated incident at this time.” 

Angel Hernandez-Tellez was arrested without incident and faces a charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder with a Firearm.
